    Default Our latest dumpster find.

DH and I both volunteer at the local senior center. People are always putting things in the dumpster to keep from having to pay to have them hauled off. On Tuesday as we took the trash out we noticed that someone had set a HP Pavilion CPU and a copier/fax/printer in the dumpster. DH took them both out and brought them home. He checked out the copier and it worked fine. Then he started working on the computer. Within an hour he had it working fine. It is loaded with lots of great software, has two CD burners, two 40 meg hard drives and a DVD player in it. I can't imagine why anyone would discard one like that but I'm sure glad they did.

Oh my, you hit the jackpot. Whoever owned it must have gotten frustrated with it for some reason and dumped it or some ladies husband was spending too much time online and she threw the puter out. Whatever the reason, good score!

There were some problems with both the computer and printer/copier but DH has self-taught himself to repair them since his retirement. He will either donate this computer and printer/copier or his old oens to the local battered women's shelter. He buys computer parts at yard sales and thrift stores when he finds them and uses those parts to repair other computers.

I'm guessing someone threw it out because the upgraded to something better and faster.

Kay I think you're right about someone upgrading and just dumping this computer. Being so frugal I just can't imagine throwing something like that away.
