Question Anyone ever had or been to a bag sale?

I've only been to thrift store bag sales where you stuff all the clothes you can get into a bag for $1.00.

I'm thinking have having a bag sale at my house instead of a yard sale. I've had 6 yard sales already this year and I'm sooooo tired of them! I got the rest of the stuff out of the shed last week and sold about $220.00 worth Friday and Saturday.

I still have a lot of nice stuff left but it's too hot here now and I don't want to put any of this stuff back in storage sooooo.........

I thought I would advertise a BAG & BOX Sale and hand the people a walmart bag as they enter and have them fill it for $1.00. Or if they want a big box, they can fill it for $5.00. What do you think? Have you ever been to a bag and box sale at a yard sale? I figure I am atleast getting a little bit for the stuff, right?

    Any ideas? Hints? Tips?

They're fantastic!!! It's a great way to shop for clothes. There was an old thrift shop in my home community when I was younger -- stuff a bag for $2 and let me tell you sisters, I can stuff a bag!! My most recent adventure yielded 50 items in a big garbage bag for $5, equalling $0.10 per item!

I think it would be a fantastic idea. I say go for it, especially if you just want to get rid of some stuff.

Only thing is, I have very few clothes to sell. Mostly it's things like craft supplies, lead crystal glasses, all kinds of knick knacks, gardening pots and tools, exercise equipement, bread maker and kitchen things that I had 2 or 3 of. You all would just be amazed at what all I have and what all I've already sold, lol. Maybe I should just make it a $.25 cent to $1.00 sale and if they want a bag they can fill a bag for $1.00. I'm mulling things over and trying to figure out the best way to do it. hmmmm....

I would do a bag sale at 1.00 per bag. If it is a large item, it is probably well worth a dollar. If it is smaller items, they can fit quite a bit in a bag. If after 1 day of that, you still have items left, make it 2 bags for 1.00 just so you dont have to pack it back up again!!!! Or put out a sign saying free and you will be surprised how fast everything goes!!! Good luck and have fun

I love bag sales, usually at the end of a season her at thrift stores, they do that.
Get cardboard boxes from stores that they are chucking out. To put bulk items in together, the stuff thats breakable.

The last time one of our local thrift stores had a bag sale, it was at the Salvation Army store, and they wanted $15!!!!! to fill a brown paper grocery bag. Nothing could be sticking out over the top, either. I thought that was a little steep. It was clothing only, too. No housewares, knick-knacks, etc. were allowed in the bags.

I'm not getting any customers! Yesterday I only had 3 people show up and I made $9.00! Worst yard sale so far but considering it was 91 degrees at 10:00 am I guess I shouldn't complain. I've already had one customer this morning but she was looking for childrens clothes which I don't have any of.

Hopeing today goes really well and keeping my fingers crossed.

Just wanted to say the bag sale was a complete flop. The ad in the paper cost me $34.00 and I only made $17.00 in sales. Not sure if it was the heat or having had 6 yards sales already or the ad it'self since not many people may have been to a garage bag sale.

I might try it again later in the fall but I hope to have given away most of the stuff by then.
