    Default I love thrift shops!

Ok, I'm assuming you all read my other thread about me and DH trying to live more frugally. Well, I need new jeans- my job has me working around construction/work sites so my jeans wear out quickly.

I'm a little embarrassed to say this, but I used to go out and buy $70 jeans whenever I felt I needed a new pair. Yes, and I even wore them to work.

So I'm on another cycle of needing new jeans. So today I went to a thrift store just to check things out. Well, they were having a paper bag sale-all the clothes and stuffed animals you can fit into a paper bag for $5!

So I was able to get a stuffed animal for my dog Bear, two button down shirts and two pairs of jeans. Better yet-they were the same brand of clothes that I paid an arm and leg for!

Just wanted to share this new experience w/ everyone.

Great job! I too love Thrift stores. I buy almost everything there. I have to be careful and not go too much and spend too much! My favorite store had a 50% off sale this past Sat. I got some very good deals! I got like "brand new" slip covers for my couch and loveseat for only$12. I spruced up my winter wardrobe too! I even got a few gifts(my family loves stuff from. the thrift store). I added to my greeting card stash(6 cards for$1). I spent a total of $61! They are having a bag sale this Fri and 50% off everything else. I may go I do need some dresses for winter. (our bags are$10). We'll see! Have fun!!!!!!!!

I love them too. This past weekend my DS and I went to the thrift store. He is growing a lot this year. He is 13 years old and almost 6 ft. tall. Anyway, he needed new jeans, he weras a 33/36 mens jeans. Low and behold, a brand new pair of Old Navy jeans, with all of the price tags still on them, in his size. He loved them. $7.00. Then, we also bought him a pair of American Eagle jeans too, $7.00 and a pair of black tennis shoes, size 13 mens for $6.00. Yes, I love those deals.

Wonderful deals!! I found myself almost driving past our help center/thrift store today, yes, (nodding) I just had to shop... lol

I found a pair of nice dress black shoes for son to wear with suit (given to us from a friend who is a housekeeper,a client asked her to help clean out his closet....I love the cast off clothes of a millionaire!!! The shoes were just 50 cents.

I also found a knitted face mask hat for second son who had wanted one for doing his chores (feeding livestock etc...) I found a knitted hat, neck scarf like thing for me. Both were 50 cents each and 5 recent magazines (southern living, real simple and martha stewart) for 5 cents ea.
I was most happy to find the shoes. I really did not want to pay and arm and leg for a pair of shoes ds would wear just one time. He even liked them....so hard to do with a 17yr old! lol

That's awesome!! Welcome to the club, ha! I just love thrift stores too. I find great kids clothes especially. Name brands, hardly worn, for so cheap.
I've bought clothes for myself and lots of household things too. Last year I even bought a beautiful, like new couch for $40.00.

Almoverton - do you think if you checked your local yellow pages for Thrift Stores there might be some in your area? Good luck!

Great job! I love thrift stores too. It's amazing how it changes the way you look at clothes off the rack/retail too. I recently needed some more formal clothes and found a couple of things at the thriftstore but needed one really nice set. I bought it retail, 2 pieces from 2 different stores on sale for good prices but it just about killed me to pay $36 for a really nice satin top.... .

I went to the thrift store yesterday and I got a pretty Martha Stewart gold and white Christmas tree skirt for $3. I got a new pair of lined curtains that came from Sears for $5! AND...I got 2 work out shirts and a pair of work out stretchy pants for $8 (in case I ever get the motivation to get on my treadmill! LOL) All total $16 spent...very good deals!
