    Talking Garage Sale finds

Garage Sale Season is just beginning around here. Although we only found one good bargain today, DH found a hoe for $1.00, it was fun to get out and start looking again.

What is the best thing you have found at a garage sale?
What types of things do you usually look for?

Dora sweat suit for DGD #2= 1.00
    Dora shirt for DGD # 1 = 1.00
New with tags short set for DGD # 2 = 1.00

Then I hit the thrift store and for 9.29 got

Winter sweater for me, fleece with penquins. Purple shirt for summer for me
Cooties game for DGD's Tupperware container

After all that I figured I needed to get home before I broke the bank!

The season is just starting here too and we had a neighborhood here it town that had a block sale. I went and got a couple of things.

~a really cool long sleeve t-shirt/1.00
~a beautiful and very heavy Mikasa lead crystal bowl with tags/3.00
~3 really nice purses/1.25 for all
    ~a canvas tote/.25

Didn't find that much and the bowl was definitely the find of the day for me but I had a good time chattin' with the ladies and the weather is gorgeous so I had a really great time for 5.50

~48 yr. old sahw, livin' it up in our empty nest, smack dab in the middle of everywhere.~

*We're debt freeeeeeeee! (including the house)*

I live in the deep South. Garage season here has been going on since early March. I haven't found anything worthwhile lately.

I didn't intend to garage sale today, but on my way back from taking my daughter to a Brownie event I hit a few. They are always going on here!
I got a darling basket with floral liner for .50, a decorative glass snowman plate for .50 (I collect snowman stuff), and two really long, thick oven mitts for $1.00. It was nice to be out early and get some exercise too.

I look for bath & body stuff (new of course) so that I can gift them for presents, I also look for dragon and wizard figurines for my step-dad for xmas and birthdays, Mary Moo figurines for my mom for xmas or birthday, stuff basically that I can just give as gifts.

It won't sound frugal at first, but ...

We paid $75 for a bike for my teen.

    Considering that:

    * The bike was new. I suspect it was a widower selling off his wife's bicycle.
    * It retails for $340.

Sounds a little more frugal, right?

I love garage sales. Looks like some of you have found some great stuff. The best thing I ever got was a brand new crib for $50 dollars.

Garage sale season is year round here. They slow down a tiny bit in December and January, but there are still several every weekend. I have not bought anything in months. I go every weekend, but have not seen anything I really wanted or had to have.

I usually look for name brand clothing for the kids, anything Ninja Turtles, Spiderman, or Transformers related for DD. I really just look for whatever. If I can find something I know will resale on Ebay at a nice profit, I snatch it up. Books are another biggie for me, DD reads non stop.

One of my all time favorite purchases is a mirror framed in wrought iron I got for $5. It is beautiful and looks great in my foyer.
