    Question Is this a bargain??

I've been offered to buy a big box full of clothes my size for about 160 US dollars. Most of it has never been used, some of it has been used and washed two or three times. Most of the clothes are in a casual, office style.

I really need clothes. I recently had a new job that means I have to wear new outfits regularily. So far I have bought something new every month and spent about 100 US dollars totally doing so for three months.

This offer seems expensive to me. But at the same time I wear size 48 (european size). So I kind of a big girl and I don't have lots of choises.

Would you say this is a bargain??

I dont think its a good deal since you are not sure what you would be getting.I am not sure where you are but do you have thrift stores, Goodwill, Salvation Army near you? You could do well in those and if you stick to the basics you could mix and match. You know, black pant, skirts, jackets etc

    Default Salvation army...

I have two major problems here:
    1. I live in northern Europe, where thrift stores are not as frequent as in the states.
    2. As I sais, I am a BIG girl. So my sizes hardly ever appear at the thrift stores.
I know the items that are in the box that I have been offered. I have a list of then and I think that except one or two pieces it will all fit me.
But still, it might not be a good offer...

That seems like a lot of money to me for clothing that you can't try on. Have you actually seen the items? Suppose something doesn't fit, is there a market for resale where you are?

Well, since you know how many items are in the box, divide that number into $160 to see how much it is per piece. That might help! For example if there are 16 items in the box it would be $160 / 16 or $10 per piece, that might not be too bad depending on what the items are. Just a thought.

Are you buying this off ebay? If so make sure you read seller's rating with a fine tooth comb. As for me I would hate to pay that much for a lot of clothes sight unseen. Ask a lot of questions.

    Default No not e-bay

No this is not on e-bay. It's a private deal. A friend of a friend who allways seem to buy to much clothes. I have not seen the things but I have a list and know what these things look like, brand names etc. It's totally 18 items for 157 US dollars. That means 8,7 Us dollars per item.

Well, if they are new items and the are plus size then 7 or 8 dollars an item is fair. Plus size costs more. I would offer 150 and see if she takes it. IF not and you are in need of clothes then I would buy the box of clothes if you like them.

I think $7-$8 an item seems reasonable if there are enough new pieces in there. I know most thrift stores near me sell their clothes for about that price and those items are used. Good Luck, let us know how it all turns out for you.

I would compare to what you can get for yourself brand new. If there are no thrift stores in your area, this is not an option.

For example, $160 may sound like a high price, but if it will be saving you 70% of the price you would pay in the store for each item, it is a good deal.

Just remember that a deal is only good if it is something you will use and enjoy!

If you know the things will fit, and you like them and will actually want to wear them, then yes, it's a good deal.

    Otherwise, it's not.

My aunt and grandmother always needed larger sizes and had a hard time finding clothes in the size they needed. So they usually bought what they could find, regardless if they really liked it.

Buying plus sized women's clothes in the states brand new is fairly expensive. To me, if you're only paying about 7 or 8 dollars for each piece, it sounds like a good idea, especially if they are in good condition. It's not as cheap as finding them at a yard sale, but plus size clothes go fast in a yard sale.

I'm sure you'll make a good decision and everything will work out alright.
