We stopped at a few down near the inlaws. I scored big time at an estate sale!! I got a whole bag of crochet cotton (30 skeins, 400yds each!), 2 vintage steel crochet hooks AND a Yarn Swift for a grand total of $3!!!!!

The yarn swift alone would have set me back about $65 brand new
Here's a picture of my loot:

I also got a huge grocery bag full of books for 25c each. Probably about $4 and a bowling ball with bowling bag for $1.

You put the yarn hank (the kind that aren't already rolled into center pull skeins) around the swift. Then as you wind it into a ball, the swift spins around. It's pretty much an adjustable yarn holder for winding hanks into balls. I hope to find a ball winder cheap next. Although, if I had to choose a ball winder or a swift, I would choose a swift. It doesn't take me long at all to hand wind a ball ...it's the figuring out how to hold the hank of yarn without it getting tangled that annoys me.

    I am happy for you!

I just splurged on a ball winder ... it came today, and I haven't even tried it out yet.

DH is thinking he can build me a swift.

I got a breadmaker -- one of the old Welbuilt machines. For $1. It was really dirty, but I cleaned it up. And it works.

We went to a few. Didn't spend much. At one we got Trivial Pursuit Jr for $1 - didn't seem to be missing anything. another one we got 3 - body sets (shower gel, bath caviar, and bath salt) for .25 each and 3 Christmas cookie sheets for $1.50 total.
