Default Found a great table for free!

We live in an apartment right now(saving for a house) and when people move out many of them leave furniture they don't want next to the dumpster. I found a great end table that was made out of solid wood and had a great little dovetailed drawer. They don't make furniture like that anymore. I can't belive they didn't want it. I snatched it up as soon as I saw it. I've also gotten a great table that we used for a kitchen table for a bit and now use for a craft table. You can find some good things next to apartment dumpsters!

Cool! I have a very neat drop front desk that I got from the dumpster about 30 years ago. My son is a "back alley" shopper, and has gotten some great finds.

The great thing is that young people furnish their homes with their parents and grandparents hand me downs, and not realizing how cool they are, they can't wait to get their own furniture. Thus, they throw the good stuff out, and we are there to snag it!

nice! you think they would have tried to sell or something, but it was probably just easier in the commotion of moving to just throw it out if they didnt want it.

What a great find . I put things out near my apt. dumpster that I no longer want and they go quickly. I look through other people's things next to the dumpster. I have found books, bulletin board, and other items. I keep looking for more goodies. Most of the time in community living situations I think it's just understood that if it's out by the dumpster and not "in it" that your neighbor hopes somebody can use it and since it's free someone will probably want it.

That is so cool! I once found a terrific antique Underwood typewriter in great shape near an apartment dumpster. It now sits in our front room. It's unbelievable what people throw out. Congrats on your find!
