Default Secondhand Book Stores or thift stores

I read a lot and new paper back books are just way too expensive. I go to secondhand book stores and even the 3 local thrift stores to buy my books to read. After I have a stack of books I have finished reading I take the books to a consignment thrift store and sell them. At least I get some of my money back.

I get all my books from thrift stores and garage sales. If it is a new release that I want to read I will put a request for it at the library but other than that I pick them up for .25 to .50 cents a piece.

We go to the Half Price Book Store near Pittsburgh, and they will give you a store slip to spend. We love it.

I used to do paperbackswap but had to stop due to the postage.

Now I pick them at our local Goodwill-.50cents for paperback and $1.00 for hardback

I have been meaning to check out a local store that buys back books but never seem to get around to it, will have to do this soon

I've always been an amasser of books. Lately I've been pairing down my collection (esp. because the BF and I own tons of the same books). I take my stuff to Half Price Books and sell it to them. You can get cash or spend the credit in store. Now, I just take the cash since I'M TRYING TO GET RID OF BOOKS!!! It's like pulling teeth to get me outta there with out buying anything. I'm trying to read stuff that we already own that I haven't read or going to the library.

This weekend I got $19 bucks back from selling books.

We don't have a secondhand book store around here, and my local consignment shop doesn't consign books.

I usually get Barnes and Noble giftcards for Christmas and my birthday and use those to stock up on books. I also frequent the library on a regular basis.

I sold quite a few old books at www.cash4books.com and www.webuyyourbooks.com

Our library has a used book store and I use it regularly. Our bookstore also has a used book side where you can turn in books for 1/2 credit towards other used books. I also pick up books at yard sales and thrift stores as well. I can't say I never buy a book new, but very few.

I buy most of my books at the thrift store or garage sales. When I've read them I just donate them back to the thrift store. You're right about how much money you can save by not buying books new....wow.

In an odd coincidence, next door to every Goodwill that I visit, there is a used bookstore....

I pay .50 for paperbacks at Goodwill. Hit or miss. Some weeks I walk out empty-handed but others I hit paydirt. I plan on hitting more yard sales this summer.

I love Paperback Swap!! We have a great UBS here in town and I get lots of my books from there. They don't buy books back but I get credits for returning the books that I can use towards more books in the store! I was just there tonight and picked up 8 books for $4......all off the 50 cent shelves!

I use titletrader.com to get some of my books. Otherwise I get them at the library.
