    Love, love Freecycle.

I gave my old computer to a ladies son
    who was looking for one.

I cleaned out my closets and when I was
looking for a certain book I post a Wanted
someone gave me and shipped me theirs
    almost new.

    Love it!

I haven't gotten anything yet, but I've given away our old stereo, a modem and 2 small Ikea tables. It's nice to know stuff's still useful for somebody.

Our freecycle has more "wants" than it does "offers". I noticed that there were at least 2 free-type swap groups that branched off the original freecycle because they didn't like the way it was being run, I guess. I haven't seen anything I wanted yet on ours and I've not offered. I am a little scared to have local "strangers" knowing where I live.

Anyone else hesitate because of that?

We just don't have them come to the house. We meet them at a local store's parking lot or something like that.

Of course, we haven't had anything big that we have gotten rid of either.

I LOVE freecycle. Haven't picked anything up-just giving away. Since we're moving at the end of the month, I've been able to give away things that we would have had to pay to dispose of such as a huge California king bed and some old camping gear! I like knowing things are going to be used rather than me taking it to a dump.

Nope, never thought twice. My house is there, every day, for any stranger local or long-distance. They don't know any more about me by picking up a tube of wrapping paper I've offered than they do by some stranger stalking me at the end of a corner to see what time I go out to check my mail. (yup, people do that to people)
On the contrary I have met many nice people on Freecycle during pick ups. Normally I just set the item on my porch and the other people do the same. I guess I don't consider that any scarier than the people who keep putting their advertisements on my door handle, gosh I hate that. ha!

I suppose this also depends on where you live, I feel very safe in my town in general.

Electric Usage Challenge (doing well, under $70 most months)

Yah, I suck at this money stuff, I know. That's why I'm here.

I guess I don't see any difference in that than a garage sale. People are all over your yard and in some cases your garage. But I also have a very BIG dog! LOL
