I cut off my land line
OH! I WISH!!!! I could cut off cable! It's cost us over $80 a month!!!
I never watch it.. my husband is glued to the TV.
If I didn't have a husband there would be no cable.
Phones. There's too many of them.
I stopped answering my land line last year when I sent the last one off to college. The children know my cell number and know it's with me. The only one who EVER called my landline was my CC company looking to sell me insurance. I didn't think I should pay $45/mo for the CC company to call me.
Other things I could live without. Makeup. Purses. Pumps.
I like that you're borrowing from the library. I still have to pinch myself that it's all free!

This past week I have canceled my Netflix account, Brought my Directv down by going down to the basics, and as of tomorrow I will no longer have a home phone, we all have cell phones. We are also looking in to taking collision off of my husbands truck since it is only driven 1 day a week most weeks.

I have the same exact problem with my husband. But in his defense it is the only thing he really spends money on.OH! I WISH!!!! I could cut off cable! It's cost us over $80 a month!!! I never watch it.. my husband is glued to the TV. If I didn't have a husband there would be no cable.
We discussed going over the cable bill and getting rid of
a few things and he agreed so that's a start.
Good for you recognizing there are things that you can cut out to save money.

Movie Channels & magazine subscription...
We cut the movie channels off of our cable and don't miss them an iota. Can't get rid of the cable though or I'd have to get rid of hubby
! We also chose not to renew a magazine subscription that wasn't really read, it's only a savings of $34.95 per year but every little bit adds up!

We've been tv free for several years and we buy dvds on sale, previously viewed or whatever and have the modest netflix account which is much less than what our satellite bill previously cost. We will keep netflix unless we just have to make more cuts.
We got bundle billing on our phone and reduced that cost and are looking at reducing it again by eliminating a service. We only use tracphones for cell phones because we can't get service in the valley where we live but they are nice for emergencies and keeping up with the ever-changing schedule of teenaged daughters.
Yesterday we added two clotheslines to the yard that are also dog runs. When I'm not hanging clothes on them we can move the dogs from their kennels to the runs for exercise and a change of scenery and they can be out while I'm doing yard work without digging up my beds. I'll be using the dryer even less now.
We live on an older farm with some accumulated junk that my grandpa and dad kept in case of hard times... that old rusty axle just might come in handy some day. Since hubby and I aren't mechanical, the stuff isn't very handy. But, with the scrap metal prices rising... we're loading it all up this week and taking it to the scrap yard.
I already sold scrap gold that was hanging around my jewelry box... and got a good sum for it.
I've cleaned out my pantry and threw away items I'd kept... I don't need those shoe boxes that have been taking up space for two years... I need the space for my canned goods. I culled quite a few things in this process.
I've cut most things back as far as I'm comfortable already so I'm not sure I'll cut much more.

We are down to the basics with our cable but like most of you... I would get rid of it completely if dh would let me!! We are going to change our cell phone plan this week so that should help a little!

Cable TV. Surprisingly, my dh agreed to give it up. Our two college age dsons quickly agreed to take up the cost, though.

Interesting question. I could give up cable. We only have basic, but I rarely watch anything except a couple of HGTV shows. We have both a lan line phone and cell phone, and could give up one or the other. We only have one cell phone that Hubby and I share. We have both a car and truck, that if worst came to worst, one could go. But right now they are both paid for and we use them for very different purposes. I use my computer for my part time teaching job, so I'd best hold on to that.
I could also sell various collections, my piano and flute, some of our antique furniture, but I really don't want to.
I know that I could live on a lot less....... after all, most of the world does, and I'm no better than them. It would be tough to readjust life, but I think I could survive.Spiritual:

Actually, I could give up quite a bit:
*I could easily take the TV to the lowest package and give up the movie channels
*netflix if I had to
*highlights in my hair - could drop to just cut and color - maybe even try to color it myself
*My new splurge of getting my nails done
*dog training classes
*recreational garage sale and thrift store shopping
Hummmmmmmm..... i probably really should give up at least one of these now in order to pay more on debt snowball...

I would love to give up the telly, but bf can't/won't.
We did get rid of most of our landline, though. We changed from a normal subscription of 18 euros/month to 'incoming calls only' for 5 euros/month. We have to do the outgoing calls either on our mobile or through Voipbuster, which will make free calls to landlines. We can still make outgoing calls on the landline, but they are expensive and we would have to pay for dailling the emergency numbers. We're okay with that.
