Spinners
I am a spinner and there doesn't seem to be that catagory. I fear that this hobby can be very expensive for equipment initially.. But now I can spin wool quickly and can provide grandkids with waterproof mittens and caps. I can felt the wool for slippers and for bags. Usually give as gifts.
I no longer weave but when I did I provided cloth for sewing, tableware, etc. There are many spinners so it no longer a lost art.

I spin -- but I don't have a big wheel -- I use a drop spindle.

I'm still working up the nerve to try. I'd loooove a drop spindle (and wheel...eventually).
I'd really like to take a class first, but there are none around here. I'm hoping at the fiber festival next month there will be some kind of demonstration...

I spin with a drop spindle. I would love a wheel, and a loom, actually! But right now I don't have a lot of time for it. I can imagine myself, when my children are grown, raising angora goats and spinning, spinning, spinning! (: It seems there are quite a few things that require an initial investment, but are sooo worth it in the long run! Homespun fibers are beautiful! You would be paying a lot for yarn!!!
