Thanks to all that looked at my first project! I'm using it now! I transfered everything from my purse I was using into this one! LOL
I'll use it for the rest of July at least and then put it away.
I found some pretty fabric at WM for $2 yd. I should have bought some! Maybe I'll run up there tonight and get some. for that price, can't go wrong!
I also found Veggie tale fabric on clearance and thought of making pj's for DS but it's the regular material, not stretchy.. Has anyone ever made pj's from that? I thought I'd do it as project #2.

I've made pj pants from non-stretchy fabric, and though I've never made a top, I know it's possible. Kwik Sew has some patterns on their site.

I made DS some pj's last year from 100% cotton, non stretchy fabric. As long as the opening is big enough to fit over his head, it should be ok.....oh and enough room to wiggle his arms up through the holes. DS was able to wear his for about a year, buts now getting hard to get the shirt on!

    Thank you!
I just went a picked up some misc fabric from freecycle. I got 3 bankers boxes full and a bag that has what appears to be home made curtains- she did an awesome job with them! And it's funny because the colors match my new kitchen exactly! ( I painted my kitchen Sunday so now it's my NEW kitchen! LOL)

Congratulations on completing your first project! It looks great (I also have that fabric lol) Use it and be proud...and start something else now! Have fun - the more you practice, the easier it gets and the better you become. Good job on doing that by yourself. It's hard to learn how to sew when nobody is sitting there teaching you. Kudos to you!!

    Thank you!
I am finishing up the 6th load of fabric I picked up for free! Then I'm going to trim the frays and iron to put them away.
I found a great fabric to make pjs and some great retro fabric to make some retro animals that someone had given me a pattern for! I can't wait!

WTG Amy, you did a GREAT job! I can't believe this is the first time you have sewn, let alone use a pattern!

I love that fabric too, it has built in dimension.

Yes you can make pj's out of cotton or non-stretchy fabrics. Chelle is right, Kwik Sew has some good ones. I have the master books http://www.kwiksew.com/Catalog/Book_Children.cfm If you aren't brave enough to try buttonholes yet, just make the top a size bigger than you normally would i.e. your son wears an 8 so make a 10. Then use ribbing around the neckline (like a t-shirt neck) that way he will have plenty of room, but it wont be too big in the neckline, like hanging off one shoulder. Did that make sense to you?
