Quick question about mending something
Is there any way to fix a 'tail' as my dh calls it, on the back of the jeans right on the crease in between the rear? It poofs out and i love these jeans but they are non returnable and I want to get some use out of it

I guess if it can't be fixed it'll have to be worn with really long baggy shirts
only i don't really own those so then I'd end up buying more shirts just to wear the jeans which is kinda counter prodcuctive
arghh

Do you mean that the waistband pokes out in the center of your back?
If yes, have a friend or dh help you.
Put the jeans on and have them pin an equal amount on each side of the belt loop. Take them off an sew up each side like a dart (tapered) that will take care of the bagging out, and still look nice to wear with a tucked in shirt.

No, it's the butt crack part that is poofy (was trying not to have to say it before i'm so bashful lol)..it's right in the middle, well kinda upper middle of the butt crack..
But i dont know it is only a short distance away from the waistband..maybe 3 or 4 inches? would that idea still work? I was trying to twist and pry it to see what'd work and looks like the only solution is maybe unhemming the crotch stiching and bringing it in tighter and that way the bend of the jeans would be pulled in..my dh is the sewer of the family so I just need to come up with an idea he can work with
thanks for your ideas!!

Try pinning it first with dh's help or not. If it is just yourself it may take a couple of trys. If that works, like I said, then sew in the darts. If not..................
It's another ballgame. You would have to remove the stitching in the back of the crotch seam. Take it in as much as you need..............Re-sew it up with a french seam (link at the bottom of post explaining this) . and taper it up to the waistband.
That way you won't have to remove the waistband and take the center belt loop off entirely and place a seam in the waistband itself.
Try pinning the darts first ...... that is by far the easiest way to go.
If you're not sure contact a local seamstress that does alterations, she will know better after seeing them on you.
Here is the link on french seams...............

NOTE: Make sure you sit down in them before sewing. This is so you know you will have enough ease to be comfortable.
Good luck, let me know how it goes.~~ Dee ~~
