anyone made a bed cozy?
those "pockets" you have on the side of your bed that you tuck part under so it just hangs there?
not sure what it's called.
i'm just looking for approximate size/amount of fabric i'll need to make this.
i'm thinking a two layer pocketed piece.
how long does the piece you tuck under need to be?
do i need to attach it somehow?
tips/ideas?!
thanks again

Yes.
I made mine so that it had pockets to fit on both sides of the bed. Two for him, two for me!
I used muslin for the part that went under the mattress.
A material that he liked for his side and something I liked for my side.
I made the back piece a foot across. Then attached the "pocket", then I sewed the divider down the middle to make it two pockets.
To keep it more sturdy, I left the back open, so that I could slide a piece of cardboard into it. Then when the cardboard got mushed or bent, I could slide another piece in.

cool! i like the cardboard idea. extra sturdy!
i was thinking of making one for ds... his bed is up against the wall, so only 1 side would be shown (thinking to hold remotes/etc so they dont keep getting "lost")
i like the idea of muslin for the part under the mattress...
what about adding on (dunno how this would "sew") one of those rubber mats... like the kind you get at the store rolled up for a dollar or so, that's like a mesh rubber?? (does that sound right?)
just thinking of no-slip.
i figure i could use a simple plain fabric for the back and just use a nice fabric (of his choice) as the pockets (decoration).
whatcha think?

Since you are wanting to make it for one side of the bed, you can tack it to the box springs real easy. Just get an upholsrty needle. They are curved.
Then you would only need to double the muslin and tack it down about mid way of the mattress.

I made mine out of leftover fabric used in the rest of the room. I attached mine to a thin piece of wood I had laying around and slid it between the mattress. All you need to do is find your desired size hem the top and then make a pocket. Attache it to whatever you are going to use to keep it between the mattress and done!

I would like to have one of these for myself. I think I saw one on craftster.com
or you could just do a search for a bed caddy.

how about making it with buttons or snaps at the top attaching it to the muslin? You wouldn't have to move the bed whenever you wanted to wash the pockets
I can't be out of money... I still have checks left!

You could do that, Lady V.
I wash mine everytime I spin my mattress. I do that about every other month. I have a pillow top, so I don't flip it, but I do spin.

For a while, I was using one of the hanging shoe pocket thingies (for lack of an appropriate word for it) and it worked well but only the two bottom rows were available to me. Cleaning out the dust and lint that collected in the pockets was necessary but I could hang it in the shower and use the spray nozzle to get the lint out. I think I'm going to have to put this idea on my craft gift list at some point.
