    Default Thrift Store Fabric

You sewers may already know this but some thrift store have fabric.
The one I used to drive too had a LOT of fabric actually.
I also sometimes buy adult skirts and make kids skirts from them.
I have made purses from large place mats and napkins too LOL.
A few times there were massive amounts of designer decorator type fabric.
Seemed to be drape and upholstery drops offs from a company or something

    YES!
and for a dollar or less for SEVERAL yards... it's a steal!!!

I've gotten sheers, drapes, blankets, quilts (w/holes or tears).... and I've re-done most of them.
i turned a pair of sheets into curtains!
some fabric can be used as clothing material.

ALSO, i've seen outright BOLTS of fabric for 2$ or so... "come home with me!"

Yes sometimes you can get some great deals at thrift stores.I like to buy silk blouses or skirts in really large sizes and remake them into pillows, quilts etc.
if there is enough yardage I will make tops for me.
You can also get yarn there, and you can buy sweaters, rip it out to get the yarn

Thrift stores for fabric are great!

I have vintage fabric from thrift stores too although I don't thrift like I used to.

Yes, look at clothing for fabrics too. I have found home made blouses/ skirts made from great vintage fabrics 50's/60's for very little. Purses can also be made from old jackets etc.

Yes, thrift stores are a great place to find fabric! I found some green velvet drapes for $4. I cut them up and figure I have over 4 metres of fabric there. It normally sells for $16-18/m. Right now I'm using it to make gorgeous little tote bags.

Amazing what you can find at thrift stores! One of the greatest finds for me was two bags of t-shirt ribbing. I think that's what it's called. I don't know how many yards it is, but it weighed 14 pounds and cost less than $5.00 if I remember correctly. It is wonderful for using on fingertip towel bibs. It is in white, grey, navy, dark green and crimson.

We had a garment factory in our rural county for several decades, but because of NAFTA they lost their contracts to China. They had a sale and were selling Land's End fabrics. I got many yards, plus all the thread that would fit into a large shopping bag for a few dollars. I got many shades of serger thread, plus some machine embroidery thread. I also purchased a dress form.

I almost always look through the fabric but rarely buy any. I don't sew like mother did....if I did I could have a hay day.....
