Question How can I make a tea cozy?

I bought a small teapot at a yard sale, and I am LOVING IT! It holds just enough tea for me to have a few cups. I need a tea cozy for it, the tea gets cold too fast. Any ideas or suggestion how to do this? I can sew a bit, but I'm no expert. Thanks!

    Default

I made mine out of old blue jeans denim, and I lined it with some fleece lining I bought. This was before polar fleece which is what I'd line it with now.

OK measure around the widest part. Divide that in half.

Add an inch for ease (so it goes on and off easily, not a tight fit ok? and allows a bit of room for lining too) and another inch seam allowance (If you do a 1/2" seam rather than 5/8' then it's a simple inch for the two sides.

You now have the amount to cut sideways.

Do a similar thing for the table to teapot top.

Now you should have the measurements for a rectangle.

    CUT TWO OF THEM

Take a plate and trace around it to round off the two top corners. Cut to round them off.

Make the lining by using them as a pattern, cutting them slightly smaller than the cover.

Stitch them together, with the outer stuff inside, and the liners outside leaving the bottom open.

If you have a serger use it, otherwise a regular stitch will do fine.

Trim the seams, turn it inside out and the outside is now denim, the inside is polar fleece.

Trim a bit off the bottom of the fleece and turn up the hem of the denim and stitch it all round.

    You are done.
