Anyone else with senior moments like this?
Ds asked if I would make pj's for his 3 boys for Christmas. I told him yes and asked if he would send me the sizes. He did, I wrote them down.
Now to the senior moment. I cut out the material, sew up the bottoms of 2 pairs. All went well. I used the proper sizes. The last pair of bottoms, I sewed up and instead of making the length of the pants the size ds gave me, I used the arm measurment instead, rofl. Instead of having the pant leg 20 1/2 inches long, they are a short 14 inches long (the arm length). Thankfully I had another pair cut out and not sewn up yet.
The short pair, I'll make the top and keep to put in the package going north with my quilts.
There have definitely been some laughs around our home when it comes to senior moments.

Ah, senior moments. This morning I was sewing binding on a quilt remnant, got to the point where it should join, and in cold blood, whacked it off about half an inch shorter than I knew perfectly well it had to be - because I had just measured it. Dumb, dumb, dumb. Fortunately, it wasn't a gift for the queen or anything - just a piece I was going to use over a recliner to protect its light colored fabric so it really didn't matter. But dumb.
Oh well, I'm senior enough to be entitled to my share of those moments.Donna

I keep telling dh I'm not senior enough yet to have senior moments. I'm not quite 60 yet. He just keeps reminding me I'm getting awfully close.

I was recently making some purses for Christmas gifts and was merrily sewing away not paying attention until I realizes that I had merrily sewed the entire bag closed. I don't know what I was thinking I guess I was just on such a roll that I turned the all the corners and just kept on sewing. I am so well acquainted with my seam ripper that it just automatically melds to the shape of my hand, LOL.

Luckily, I'm not at the age for senior moments yet...but I'll be 30 in about a week, so I imagine, things are going to start going downhill soon!

But this post reminded me of last Christmas. My mom made John Deere PJ's for both of my boys. She had a pattern, called and ask what sizes they were, I told her and she made the PJ's. Well, I maybe wasn't clear that my kids were still in toddler/little kid sizes. They are only 4 & 7. Well, she made them in "child" size. The things were super huge! The boys were so dissapointed when they opened these super cool PJ's and couldn't wear them! Grandma had to go home and mke new ones for them, which they recieved about a week after x-mas in the mail! What my mom doesn't know, is that I stashed away the PJ's with the Christmas box and figure I'll have the boys wear them on Christmas morning to her house when they finally do fit in a few years!

Sounds like something I would do.. That's why I'm not allowed to craft with measurements.

It makes me feel so good there are others who will admit it. Does one have to be 60 or over for senior moments though. I'm trying to convince dh of that.

All the time. Mostly it involves going into a room and forgetting why I am there. LOL I am trying to knit a poncho. Unfortunately I forget sometimes if I should knit or pearl a row. If you look close enough you can tell when this happens. I thought about ripping it all apart but figure I will still forget at times so I keep on knitting, mistakes and all.

I just figure I'm being frugal when I have to rip out a row or two or twenty-five of knitting or crocheting. That way I get to crochet the same yarn twice. Right? By golly, I get my money's worth out of that skein!
