Default Can someone help me sew this tea cozy?

I've just inherited a sewing machine and I'd like to make a tea cozy, but I can't find a pattern for the type I want to make.

I'd like to make one in this style with the contrasting fabrics, drawstring, and the bottom panel (the bottom panel is shown at the bottom of the page).

Any idea where I could find a pattern, or how I could do it on my own without a pattern? I'm stuck.

Here is a free pattern similar to what you want. If you want more of a ruffle, all you have to do is pull tighter when doing the ruffle.

Those are adorable! My mom, who is English, is a big tea drinker. I think I'll put this on her christmas list for 2009...she will love it Thanks for posting the free directions homesteadmama!

I modified the design to have a prettier ruffle, and I added elastic to the bottom for a snug fit. I have granite counters, which are very cold this time of year, so I wanted to insulate the bottom as much as possible.

I made this one out of fabric I had laying around to figure out the design:

Very, very cute! I've been thinking about it, but haven't done it yet. Actually, I can't get into my sewing room to sew due to the christmas mess. Maybe today I'll get in there and start. Did you insulate it with batting or is this just a tester?

This was just a tester, but I used batting anyway. I figure I can try selling it at a yard sale in the spring since it came out so nice. The batting doesn't give enough insulation, I'm going to use fleece on the next one.
