vent about my sewing machine
One goal i have this year is to master my sewing machine!! Well my problem no matter how many times i try i can't get the stupid bobbin.
I swear i am doing it just like the picture shows. I found a youtube video but i don't have speakers on my computer so i think on Monday i will pack up my sewing machine and take it work and try to work on the bobbin at lunch time. Plus a couple of my co-workers sew. Unfortunately my mother lives in SC and it is hard to explain/help over the phone. Thanks for listening!!Steph

could you post the make and model of your sewing machine? and a very detailed explanation of what is happening or not happening.
Perhaps some of us can help.

I agree w/Brook...if you can give us the make & model and describe the problem, I bet someone here can help. You could also take a look at these links for help:

You could also visit your brand's website for help.
:goodluck: I know how frustrating it can be!

I feel your pain. I inherited an almost brand new Oh Brother and no matter how hard I try, I swear I only get the bobbin properly inserted by virtue of dumb luck. I've been sewing off and on since jr. high and I'm now in my early-30's!
I'm so frustrated with that machine that I've started using my 20 year old Singer. Despite it's current bugs, it's much less frustrating than fighting with the Brother.
I hope you get it figured out. I understand your frustration, I really do.

My machine is the very basic singer model (less than $200.00) It is a front loaded bobbin. I think i am putting the bobbin in the case correctly i think it might be the way i am loading it into the shuttle, I only say that because after i put it into the shuttle and turn the needle down the thread doesn't come up. I am not going to give up and will try again tomorrow. Thank you
Steph

maine girl...
try this....
drop the bobbin in, with the left hand holding the thread coming off the bobbin, this thread needs to get 'hooked' in the bobbin case..
scroll down to "Threading The Bobbin Case"
http://tinyurl.com/87n7u
I know it isn't your machine but ALL singers bobbins work the same.
back to the left hand holds the bobbin thread to hook it in the little niche, but the right hand..index finger pressed down on the bobbin lightly so it doesn't get pulled out.
ok, bobbin threaded... now on to the problem....
Once the machine is threaded, and the bobbin is in, with your left hand, take the thread coming out of the needle and hold on to it with your left hand. Give it a bit of slack....
with your right hand bring the hand wheel forward, one revolution.. so the needle goes down into the needle plate and back up.. with your left hand still holding the thread.. pull up gently. again look at the same link http://tinyurl.com/87n7u Scroll down to "Raising The Bobbin Thread"
you machine is now threaded and ready
I suggest you unthread your machine and rethread it several times so it becomes second nature.

If the bobbin is inserted correctly and the needle won't pick up the thread, the timing could be off.
Also, the thread has to be coming off the bobbin in a certain direction. If you're following the diagram correctly, then this is probably not the problem.
I hate sewing machine problems. Too aggravating when all I want to do is sew!
