Potential Money Maker??
OK, I had to come back to this post. I just came across a school fundraiser site called. Mother Earth Fundraising. I found these very same sandwich wraps for sale for $7.50 a piece and they were out of stock... made me think.... I could make these or have students help me make them and they could be sold as a "Green" fundraiser with matching lunch bag and/or napkin. What do you guys think??
Here is the exact product website.

I'm familiar with this brand: http://www.wrapnmat.com/
I'm planning on making some for my kids to use for sandwiches as well as small snacks (I'll probably use a zipper on those).
I've read that vinyl isn't a good choice for food storage, but I know of a mama who made some of these food wraps using the freezer grade storage bags. She just cut them to fit her template. This is what I plan on doing.

This definitely sounds good - also am concerned about the choice of fabric etc. This sounds like a summer project to play around with!! Mahalo for the sites to check out ladies!!

I did a little further research.
Some ladies are using 2 layers of tight woven cotton, and have no issues with food drying out. This eliminates the risks of the plastic.
The other thing you can do is make a beeswax cloth. It's a simple process.
Lay down a layer of brown paper(a press cloth would work) then a layer of tinfoil. Then the layer of the fabric you intend to use. Sprinkle with bees wax shavings fold foil and paper(or press cloth) over and iron it. The wax melts into the fabric.
The bees wax add air tightness as well as antibacterial/anti fungal properties.
I think I'll try the 2 layers of cloth here and see how it goes. I like that it would be easy peasy to wash.Although if you have something leak in the lunch back, it would soak in.... hmmm.

Although that is a very cute design... I would prefer the "wrap and mat" style. Easier to make and easier to clean, if you ask me.
