Great ideas ladies!! I am mostly quilting this summer. working on finishing up the appliqueing on one quilt and sewing up some wall hangings to hand quilt later. Am always inspired by the projects of others!!

Well, today I sewed up the handle on the lawn mower bag!!!!! Also, sewed a rip on the coleman picnic/insulator bag. (I know, weird!) I'm also turning a pair of too short nice pants into capris!!! Hopefully they'll turn out "wearable in public".

Hope to finish my 'fake' split rail fence quilt.......put the final borders on the heart quilt.....make some more t-shirt bags that I can use to put Xmas gifts in......and get a lined shirt that I bought at the thrift shop made into a gardening jacket.
If I get this done along with keeping up with everything outside and 2 dogs inside, along with cleaning, I will be doing good.

Well, that is what I call it......it is a stripe that I am just rotating for the squares. (easy and fast!) So it 'sort of' looks like split rail fence quilt. Queen size. It is flannel ..bright colors...and I am putting a black border (X2) on it. Just about ready to put the first border on it now.
I had a whole bolt of it and had to do something besides just a shirt!!!

I pulled some fabric out last night and am going to get started on sewing my Christmas gifts. I need to make a couple of quilts, a couple of quillows and a few totes. Good thing I'm starting early! Besides that, I need to make a messenger bag/computer sleeve for myself.
Happy sewing!~Kim~

~What I'm most excited about working on this summer is a baby quilt for a nephew/niece due in December. I bought some really cute Dalmatian print fabric at an Amish quilt shop. It'll be a black/white/red quilt with a large pocket on the back so it can be folded up into a pillow.
Other projects are:
2 denim quilts(still 120 denim squares to cut out for #1, 300 squares of accent fabric and batting for #2).
winter clothes for kids
picnic quilt
kerchiefs(head wear type)
kitchen curtains
sewing machine and serger covers
swimsuit from a vintage pattern
hats
10 gifts...eeps
Doubt I can get all that done in just 3 months but I'm going to try.~~Constance

I'm finished with the burp cloths. One project done, and a million to go. Good luck, with your sewing projects, and let me know how it's going. This helps me to keep motivated.

My sewing projects are often a little odd.
This week:
The top sheet for our bed is a little narrow, so I sewed a strip of sheet fabric along each side, a foot or so shy of the end. Also, the bottom sheet had a torn place in it, so I patched that.
The foam in one of our dog beds had gotten dirty and disentegrated, so I cut a piece of foam up and spray-glued it together to fit the bed cover. Then I made an inner cover out of an old sheet, permanently sewed over the foam so the cushion could easily be removed from the cover for washing.
I also repaired a couple of nightshirts with ripped pockets.

I'm so impressed!
I haven't sewn in a long while, but my DD in North Carolina is currently making me a nightgown for a trip I'm taking to Albany next month (I ALWAYS forget to pack anything to sleep in, hopefully she'll send it directly to the hotel
)
She also makes all her baby gifts for friends.
Last week, she told me that one of her favorite Bible stories growing up was of Dorcas, and that she always wanted to sew for those in need. Recently, her employer instituted a reduced work week AND layoffs one week out of every four. She's planning to used her 'extra' time to do just that!! I'm so proud of her. (Anybody near Greensboro, NC with extra fabric to donate......)

Lets see...I plan on making ds a blue jean quilt for this winter. I've never made a quilt before so I'm a litter nervous but I'm sure it'll turn out fine. I'm also going to turn some of my ds's pants into shorts. Then I want to make some summer dresses for my dds. What I really need to do is learn to sew for the up coming season instead of sewing summer things in summer, I need to sew them in the winter or early spring.
