Default attachments for older sewing machines

I have an old (from the 70's) Montgomery Ward sewing machine. It works fine for my purposes, but I need to get an attachment for it. I want to buy a good quality invisible zipper foot. I tried the cheap plastic attachment that Clark makes, and it broke already (piece of cr@p, IMO). Since these zippers were invented after my sewing machine was made, I am having trouble finding a decent attachment that will fit. I think there are some for Bernina and other machines, that may fit, but I'm not sure... I was going to buy one through Ebay, but I'd like to be sure it will fit before I buy it. Does anyone have an older machine for which you have bought attachments? Are there any websites with this information? Any help appreciated... Thanks!

I hit the jackpot at G.sale. I suggest an ad in the paper or on a bulletin in a grocery store if you don't want to use ebay, Also estatesales.net. Go to your state. Sales in your area. There are dealers that will email you if they have or come across an item. specific websites I don't know. Also those who fix machines sometimes sell parts.

Find a good local sewing machine repair shop and take it in and have them *fit* a zipper foot for you. Some of the generics might work...maybe a singer. Berninas are pretty specialized and probably will not work. I had an old M. Wards machine years ago....I think singer or Sears parts might fit it.

Do you have a sewing machine dealer near you..If so you can take the foot that you have on the machine now and take it to a dealer and they can match it up for you..You may have to pay a bit more this way but it will be a match up. You won't be buying something that you can't use.

~I wish I could give you better advice than buying and hoping for the best but that's all I can really say.
Last week I bought 2 invisible zipper feet off of Ebay for my older machine. The first didn't fit but the second did. Each one was $8.
I plan to resell the one that didn't fit so that's an option to consider.~
