HELP!!What kind of a sewing machine...
I am looking into some sewing machines so I can do some projects. I would like to make shirts that I can sew names and picture on the upper left hand side of the shirt. Would like to download other pictures onto the machine so I can sew them on towels, blankets, and other items. I just don't know what machine to start looking at so if course like always I will start here for advice. Thanks a bunch for the help once again.

I always recommend that people test drive machines. I can tell you what I like or use, but it may not be a good "fit" for you personally. Things like placement of the controls or how legible they are can be something you love or hate, or find awkward to use.
You want an embroidery machine. Decide how much you are willing to spend, and how much is your absolute top limit, and then go to a sewing machine store and ask to be shown models that fit your criteria. (cost, downloads, etc) Then test drive each one. Actually sew on it. ask yourself if it is comfortable, easy to use, quiet, etc.
You may also want to look at the art packages for the various brands and see who has designs you like. I know Brother machines have cards with Disney characters, not sure what the other makers have.Use it up, Wear it out,
Make it do, Or do without. ~unknown
You can't always get what you want
But if you try sometimes you just might find

I bought A "Husky by Viking" over ten years ago. It has been a great working sewing machine. It is rather heavy so I assume it has many metal parts. Except for oiling it only twice and playing with the tension now and then it has not given me trouble.
It is basic with zig zag and button hole stitch only. I paid $200.00 for it. I like to keep things simple.
For basic sewing it has done everything I need.
I would recommend perhaps looking at a place that sells only sewing machines. I bought mine at a sewing machine/quilting/classes store.
Don't let anyone tell you that you will need more than you think. One place used that line on me and I don't believe it's true. Decide what you will want to make and get the machine that does those stitches.
The little light machines like they sell at Jo-Ann's seem a little cheap to me

I agree with Contrary about suggesting a machine for someone. Depends on what you will do with it and yes, test drive it. Also go with a LIST of the features you MUST have and feet that you will need. They will usually toss a couple xtra feet in.......they did with mine.
I did a lot of on-line checking when I was shopping, just to see what the reviews were for the machines. If the people had problems with them or what.......Here is a website that might help you.......

Thank you for the help. I thought having this machine I can have something to do for the LONG winter days that are coming ahead...
Maybe if I get a machine then I can make stuff and go to craft shows to make some extra money along the way.
