Default Teaching kids to sew

Yesterday I started teaching dd10 to sew.

She spend the afternoon sewing straight lines on looseleaf paper. Then we graduated to corners, and circles and swirls. She did fantastic.

Today, if we have time, she'll to the same, but this time with felt, to get a feel for fabric. If that goes well, she will make her first blanket on Friday.

I wish I had 2 machines so both girls could work on it, but dd12 doesn't seem that interested. So she's patiently waiting.

But I'm surprised at how easily dd10 took to it.

That's great she's picking it up so quickly! Maybe you can teach the girls in shifts? But if DD12 isn't really interested, maybe not. Might be she just isn't interested in what DD10 is sewing right now. I found my 12 year old liked practical projects like bags, etc.
