couture sewing?
Does anyone here do designer or couture sewing? I've recently picked up two old projects, a designer jacket and a pair of re-imagined jeans and I'm in need of inspiration. The web seems strangely lacking, or maybe I am not finding the right sites. Nothing against "reconstructing" but turning a t-shirt into a scarf or cutting up some ugly old thrift store skirts to make new ugly skirt is not what I'm after.
I love Threads (sometimes) and Altered Couture magazines but the subscription prices kill me. Are there any other sources for original, high quality sewing and needlework?
I would love to have a sewing buddy to share projects and ideas with.Use it up, Wear it out,

i like looking at a magazine and then constructing the pattern for it myself. is that what you mean?
i do pretty high level sewing.11% gross to retirement
10% takehome to tithe and offerings
emergency fund maintained at 3000(works for me)
credit card debt 7500
mortgage free
freedom accounts/sinking funds that ebb and flow
then live on the rest!
i am trying something new. LDS church advises savings or debt repayment should be the same as the tithe. 10% each.

I don't myself, but a few months ago I joined a sewing forum not realizing that most of the people there are very skilled fashion seamstresses. I've found it to be a friendly and helpful place, but it's out of my league. Check it out:

Sure wish you luck on this one - once you find your group you will be sewing up a storm!! I used to sew high fashion - over 30 years ago and loved the results - Vogue patterns are always a delight!! My favorite was a princess style formal full length black cashmere coat - felt like a princess in it!! Mahalo for bringing back great memories and let us know what you find!!
