You are definitely on a roll FF - by the time I wake up tomorrow, I know that you will have us all set up for March!!
I think that I'll make some shamrock scrunchies for the adults in my room as my first project - just to get us in the mood for St. Patrick's Day!!Travel light. The baggage of the past can only hold you back.

Thanks FF for getting us going again. Not sure what I am going to do but a St. Patty's day theme sounds good.

Woo hoo! I am so excited. Today while in Canada, I found THE PERFECT apron pattern. I cannot wait to make one. The pattern reminds me of the ones my Grandma use to wear. I cannot wait to wear the same aprons that my Grandma use to wear. She passed when I was 7 years old and that is the one thing that really stands out in my mind is her aprons...she wiped so many tears from my eyes, I remember her gathering eggs in them, and I remember her baking with them on. When my Mom saw the pattern, she had tears in her eyes and asked if I would make a couple for her. Silly maybe but I love it!

DC, I loved hearing about your memories! What a precious heritage with your grandmother. Could you tell us the number and brand of the pattern? It's kind of sad to me that the era of aprons is mostly gone.

I can't wait to see the apron DC.
Want to see if it was also like one that my grandma used to wear. She ALWAYS had it on. I don't know that I remember her without it on....except when she was headed to church!

Aprons were so important to the women who ruled their homes from the kitchen!! I remember my mother's used to get threadbare from use. At one time I know we had matching ones!! Yup, Debbie - some great memories there - mahalo!!

Here is the pattern. The apron my grandma always use to wear is the one on the right. Can't wait to make some!
Tried to download the picture but it isn't working. If you google it, it is pattern - Simplicity 3670. Sorry about that!

Only time I ever saw my grandma without her apron on was when she went away....and that was a very rare occasion for her....how I wish I had saved some of those aprons.
I was 15 yrs old when she passed away....

Okay, I cut out the pattern but this is more difficult than I thought! I don't have chaulk or transfer paper? So I just drew the marks with pencil. I started seek g the darts but I don't know if I am doing it right. I have put it off to the side for now. I will go back to it tomorrow with fresh eyes. I don't want to get frustrated and quit so I stoppedbefore that happened. The whole thing is trimmed with bias tape so I think it is going to be a real challenge!

OH-OH---------what type of pattern did you buy? Can you post of pic of it? I never have to mark anything with just plain - no pocket--elastic waist pants. DARTS? GIRL............what did you get into?
These must be more fitted than a 'general pant' that I thought you were going to do. So this wouldn't be considered a 'uni-sex' pattern then----right?
Um---not sure about the bias tape thing either.......I do have one pattern where it runs up the outside of the leg but that is more for decoration/style than anything else. It COULD be left off and just sew a seam.
Yep------bias tape might make you a little frustrated....not hard---but depending on what you are doing with it can be a little tricky. Straight line sewing with it is okay-------the curves can be a demon.
Post a pic of the pattern if you can........we will see what we can do...........
YES----get some transfer paper. AND get the package with the MULTI-COLORS in it. I seldom use my caulk. I sometimes see both at TShops. AND---don't forget the 'rolling tool' that you use with the transfer paper------don't know what it is called. But if you are going to sew clothes you need transfer paper. I never need it for a basic 'sweat/pajama pant' though.
sorry you are going through this..........DON'T GET DISCOURAGED!

I'm sure you can handle it, DC. Do a search on sewing with bias tape. A tip: you can help shape the bias tape where it should curve using your iron with steam.
Thanks for sharing the pattern number; I like the one you're doing.

Oh FF I am working on the apron not the pants. I am sorry if I was unclear. The pattern said easy though! I posted the pattern numbers few post back. I tried to copy and paste a picture of it from google but when I do a different pattern shows up!
Thanks for the tip with the iron pem! As you can see, the apron is ALL curves!
I will pick up the transfer paper and wheel today and have another go at it. I will not be beaten by a piece of tissue paper!

Here is a link to the pattern:

I've always wanted to make one of those too. I have some similar apron patterns by Kwik Sew...I should dig them out.
