I use this service and have been very pleased. About halfway down the page are his prices for sharpening scissors. (No affiliation).

I have had a pair of Fiskar scissors for years. They came with a sharpener.

If they are ginghers, I have heard very good recommendations about mailing them back to gingher for sharpening.

Sometimes your local Joann's or other fabric/quilt shops have sharpening "clinics", and you can take them in for free or very inexpensive sharpening. I'm not endorsing Joann's, or anyone else for that matter, because I've never had it done.

I have done this too and it does help. Have used it mainly on 'house' scissors....not my sewing scissors.

There is a tool --really inexpensive---that you can buy to sharpen scissors and knives. But remember ---scissors sharpen differently than knives do.........and only one side. Lowe's and HD should carry it.........I got mine years ago and got it at one of these.

I am REALLY careful with my sewing scissors and don't cut ONE SCRAP of paper with them...or anything else---other than fabric. This helps keep them sharp. Cutting paper is the WORST thing you can do to sewing scissors.
