Sewing Club - May 2010!!
I know I am jumping the gun a little - by the time you read this, I will be asleep and there will still be one day left in April!! However, in my defense - I am just anxious to start anew!!
So what are you going to work on in May?
I need to make four Puritan dresses with long sleeves and yards and yards of gathered skirts!! These are costumes for our Resoration Foundation for women to wear during fundraisers and visitor events.
Must admit, the pattern that they chose for one of the dresses is exactly like a dress pattern that I used to use for myself in the 60's - only the length was to the knee!!
I did post a tutorial on how to put in a placket zipper - really easy - check it out and try the method. I've been using it for years; just wish I could remember where I learned the technique.
What are you going to be sewing in May?Travel light. The baggage of the past can only hold you back.

~Way too much to do in May: a mother's day present, a birthday present, baby stuff, maternity clothes, and some home sewing. I need to get to the fabric store for some of my projects though.~

Deep breath Nuisance and one at a time!! LOL - yeah right - as if we do that!! But it does help.
Was thinking about the dresses this morning and the lace trim that was chosen - not that it's any of my business since I am just donating my time to make these dresses..........but.........
Puritans would never have worn lace trim.
If they had worn lace trim, it surely wouldn't have been so elaborate.
Enough said, the dresses will be pretty and they will be happy. All is good.Travel light. The baggage of the past can only hold you back.

I still have a t-shirt bag to sew.......that is a quickie project, might even get that one done.
And still have one more needle holder to make.
Don't know if I will get to any of them.......and think I have another 'car tote' (new pattern) downstairs on the cutting table. Not sure...been awhile since I 'peeked' down there.

FF - How is the car tote different from a regular tote?
I am looking for some simple patchwork quilt designs - something different than I usually do. Does anyone have any favorites?Travel light. The baggage of the past can only hold you back.

I posted a question in the quilt thread about the patterns, MM.
The tote is easier to post pics than to explain.......the car tote is the 'clutter catcher' in the pics. The other one is another one I want to make too......have had the pattern for ages....it would be neat for all sorts of things.
So.......here are the pics (I had to 'peek' at my table --
to get them!)

Mahalo for the pictures FF - they both look like great projects!! Have you decided on the fabric yet?

I'm going to finish the pillow I'm currently working on, and then start on the tote I want to sew. Anything else is a bonus

Sounds like a plan to me LB - love that bonus sewing!!
Since I finished it this morning, I am counting Dress #1 as part of my May goal. Will post pictures as soon as I find where I put the camera. Dress #2 will be cut out this morning.

No but it will have to be something along the gray and/or burgundy line for the car tote and that is how my car is 'decorated"....

Yes.......I decorate my car. The inside of my car is gray. I have sponge in the back (rear seat is down) covered with a burgundy fleece king size blanket......FOR THE KIDS!!!
Oh...and charcoal gray seat covers!
