Default Weekly Sewing Digest - 4/30/10 - Pregnancy and Baby Projects!

This week I've gathered some project links that are very timely for me, projects for babies and expectant mothers!

Making your own maternity clothes and baby items can save a lot of money and keep you very busy during your nesting stage. And if you don't need any of these items yourself, know that homemade gifts for a friend's baby are always very much appreciated. I like to give expectant mothers a unique diaper bag.

Do you have a favorite sewn gift for babies or mommies-to-be?

~I finished my first ever pair of baby booties. It was really tough sewing something so small on a regular machine. So here they are, messy seams and all:

~More baby booties! I tied these down just for variety but they're from the same pattern.

OMG those booties are amazing. I am due in September and i SO want to make some. were did you get the pattern. I will be working on baby blankets. Fleece on one side decor cotton on the other with a satin edging. I finished one a few weeks back but it was the first i have ever made so it was very messy edging. But i feel more confident now that i have some experiance with it that i can do better.

~I used a pattern in this book: [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Beautiful-Things-Make-Baby-Sunset/dp/0376042958"]Amazon.com: Beautiful Things to Make for Baby (9780376042958): Sunset: Books@@AMEPARAM@@http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51q5t9kbr1L.@@AMEPARAM@@51q5t9kbr1L[/ame] . I found it at my library but used books are going pretty cheap. ~

~Another pair I made for a gift. These are newborn and oh so tiny! I was rushing a bit so they're messy but the concept and process of making these was very simple!
