Wink Turning shorts into a skirt...HELP!!!

I need help in how to turn a pair of shorts into a skirt.

Ok here is the deal ...I was at one of my thrift stores yesterday and the clerk anounces via the public address system "Welcome shoppers all summer wear is on sale 50% off this includes shorts, sleeveless shirts....." anyway she went on and on. I stopped listening when she said shorts. I don't wear shorts but I did go over and take a look of the prices which were all below $4.00 without the 50% off.

I did not buy any but once I got home I got to thinking...why could I not buy a couple pair of shorts and turn them into a skirt. I love to wear skirts. I need help from all you sewers on how to turn a pair of shorts into a skirt.

What fun you're going to have and yours is a great idea!!

Agree that you'll be able to find directions on you tube - and if you don't......

you'll basically be removing the crotch seam - I'd just cut on the seam.

Turn the shorts inside out and lay flat with side seams together. You want to shape the front and back seams by marking the new front and back seams following the path of the seams before the crotch jag. (make sense?) Baste and then try on your skirt and see how your skirt looks. Adjust, cut away extra crotch fabric. Hem to your desired length.

The only potentially troublesome area is under the zipper - especially if they are denim.

Hope this helps - pictures are always better - I know you can do this!!
