    Default sewing kit

I turned a fishing tackle box into a sewing box. I bought thread and different sizes of sewing needles. I am very excited about this.
It may not seem much to you but it is a big accomplishment to me. Now, I can learn to sew more things than a button and simple stitching.

ok.....now everyone can laugh at me.

I think it is an awesome idea, and well worth the thought, lots of small compartments to store small things in. May be worth a trip to Sportsman Accadamy this weekend.

Great idea! That would be a fabulous gift for a single guy (along with a book on how to to simple sewing repairs). The tackle box wouldn't be girly at all. You know, I have one of the guys that would really like that. I think I am putting that on my "when they move out" gift list.

And, why would we laugh at you?

    Side note:
The "when they move out" gift list is:
    Complete Tightwad Gazette book
two cast iron skillets (two different sizes)
a sour cream container of bacon grease (to season the cast iron)
    measuring cups and spoons
    tackle box sewing kit

I keep adding to it when I find things that they can use and I can aquire them for cheap.

that's a great gift list. I never thought of that. It is like a Hope chest for their new beginning.
I thought everyone would laugh that I didn't use it for fishing. I can't fish because I am highly allergic to fish and seafood. So, when i found this extra tackle box, I was like...."cool....I can learn to sew and get supplies."

That is about all I can do for hand sewing. I know about three stitches total, four if you include basting.

It's a great first step! Next thing you know, you'll be getting out the sewing machine(or getting one off kijijii) and making things.

And no I didn't get a laugh at this. More people need to learn how to sew some so that things don't end up in the landfill from something as simple as sewing on a button.

My guys were supposed to all learn how to do a few hand-sewing things. It wasn't worth the fight to teach it to them. I figure that they can youtube a tutorial if they need to do it. At least they would have the took that they needed on hand.
