In my more spendthrift days, I bought lots of vintage hankies on ebay. I always keep one or two in my purse.

DH takes a cloth hankie in his pocket every day too.

Great topic Polly - I think I am going to make a bunch to use at the preschool - we are going through kleenex like crazy!! And I just picked up the perfect container that the children will love putting their used hankies in!! Mahalo!!

Early Bird! My DH does too!!!

Maui, that pretty awesome! I think your wee ones are going to like cloth far better. Cloth feels so much nicer than paper.

I'm still trying to figure out the containers, they will be out open like on display, I just don't want to put plastic tubs out. I'd be uncomfortable if company came over. Still trying to think up a unique idea. Then of course, in the beginning the tissues are just going to be cut up t-shirts. That's nothing to display proudly, just like I cut rags for my family. :/ So I need to find containers to keep them in that blend in. I was never fond of the tissue box sitting out either. LOL!

I have a feeling that in the beginning they are going to go through a lot of them - sort of like they do now with tissues!! However that is just fine with me!! We currently have tissue boxes all over the preschool - your talking about containers is a good nudge for me to think of containers - hmmmm....

~Here's how I store mine Polly: The box is closed but easy to get to on our tv stand. The dirty ones go right into a basket in the laundry closet.
We've been using hankies around here for about 4 years now. ~

My Mom collects vintage hankies and uses them. She has a lot of pretty ones. My Dad keeps a white handkerchief in his pocket all of the time. My dh keeps one a lot of the time. I have a few, but use way more paper tissues. I'd like to get out of that habit so maybe I'll try making a few of these.

~You're welcome. It's just a $1 or $2 paint-your-own box I got at the craft store. It can get tedious folding them if there are a few of us sick(going through 20+ a person every day) but I was sure to quickly teach the kids how to do that and it's their chore now. ~
