    Thanks Lori!

Here are the directions for this pattern. I don't care for her way of making the neck strap, she is leaving the whole length unfinished.

This is going with the pic below.

    1) Make a pattern with butchers paper, tape sheets of copy paper together, muslin or I get pattern fabric at a Singer fabric store. It is similar to heavy interfacing (sew in type), comes 54" wide and about $.70 a yard.

    ***EDITED***
You can also use brown wrapping paper. Do not use newpaper, the ink in the paper will get on your fabric and is very difficult to get out. Mark all information on the pattern pieces. i.e. Apron, date made etc. You can also print out these instructions or the ones from the website and tape to the front of the pattern piece. That way you will remember how to sew it together the next time you want to make one.

The neck edge is 9" wide, the armholes go from the top neck edge and end 10" down from the top. Then you will have to free hand the curve. Do one side then fold in half and copy it to the other side, that way they will match.

The 2 strips at the top are 12" long x 2" wide (cutting size), this will be for the neck strap. When sewn together should measure 23" long x 1" wide ( finished size). This is using a 1/2" seam allowance. When making home decor or craft items, generally if a seam allowance isn't given it is 1/2".

The 2 edges beyond the apron are for the ties. They should measure 2" wide x 36" long (this is the length of 1 yard of fabric). This is the cutting size. Finished size will be 1" wide x 35 1/2" long.

    Neck Strap:

With right sides together stitch one short end with a 1/2" seam. Press seam open. (Neck strap now measures 23" long x 2" wide)

With wrong sides together flod in half length wise and using a 1/2" seam allowance, stitch along the long side. Turn right side out, Press.

With the seam of strap facing the outside of apron and strap hanging down on the front (right side) of the apron, pin to the top of apron 1/2" in from each armhole, baste into place. See picture below.

Press top of apron down 1/4" and then 1/4" again, stitch across top. Go slowly as you will have a lot of bulk to go over with the neck straps.

    Ties:

Do this twice, once for each tie. With right sides together, fold in half length wise and using a 1/2" seam allowance, stitch down the long side and across one short end. Trim corner diagonaly, turn right side out, Press.

With the seam of tie facing the bottom of the apron and the tie itself facing the inside of the apron, pin unfinished end, 1/2" down from the bottom of the armhole, baste into place.

    Finishing:

Press all unfinished edges with 1/4" all the way around and then start at the beginning again and press under 1/4" again. Stitch. Once again, go slowly when you come to the ties, there will be a lot of bulk in the seam.

You can top stitch the neck strap and ties if you choose to. This is not necessary, but if you do, top stitching needs to be done before you attach them to the apron.

    Pockets:

If you want to add pocket(s), use a scrap piece of material that contrasts your apron fabric.
    Cut them 8" wide x 9" long.
Press the top edge under 1/2", Stitch.
Fold the top edge down 1 1/2" right sides together and stitch using a 1/2" seam allowance, just stitch down the
1 1/2" on each side. Cut corners diagonaly, turn right side out, Press.
On the 2 sides and bottom, press under 1/2", position on front of apron, pin into place. (Finished pocket now measures 7" x 7")
Stitch along the sides and bottom close to the edge. Stitch again 1/4" in from first line of stitching. This will reinforce the pocket. If you don't actually use your pockets, one line of stitching will hold into place.
