Dee - tote bag question
What type of material would you recommend in making this. I want to make one for me and one for dd, but just not sure what would be best in the way of material.

If you aren't going to be using it for anything heavy, you can use 100% cotton. I know you have a lot of that!

You can also use corduroy, upolstry fabric what ever you have laying around except not knit fabric. I think that would stretch out too much.~~ Dee ~~

Thank you CJ and Denise, I edited the tutorial post.

CJ, I just thought of something! You could use 2 fq's that coordinate (or contrast) and make a reversible one! Make 2 bodies for the tote and one set of straps out of each fq. You would then use 1 each from the set of straps for each strap.
When you get to the top part of hemming the tote, just turn down each piece 1" and then 'sandwich' the straps between each tote piece. This will make a reversible tote!

I have to learn to keep my mouth shut and think before I speak.
You will need 4 fq's to make a reversible tote.~~ Dee ~~

I have a question too -
I'm printing out the tutorial on the tote bag, but honestly haven't read it very closely. Does it require those 2 special seams you've done tutorials on - french and flat? If so, I'll need to print them out too. Thanks!

No Pat you can use regular seams and just finish them off with either zigzag stitch in the seam allowance or pinking shears.
