Default tip for threading needles from THREADs magazine

Spray your thumb and forefinger with some hairspray, rub them together then roll the end of the thread in between.

Enough hairspray gets on the tip of the thread to stiffen it, and capture the fuzzy bits so that you can

TADA Thread a needle, whether for hand sewing or on your sewing machine needle.

I got it out of the readers tips section from issue #100 of Threads magazine this morning. Sounds like a particularly smart solution to the problem.

It gets worse as your eyes age, I haven't tried it yet, but I think this may take out the irritation I often feel.

Another tip, this is for hand sewing: Do not try to put the thread through the eye of the needle, put the eye of the needle onto the thread.

Pinch the thread between your thumb and fore finger, take the needle with your other hand an put the eye over the thread that is between your fingers. So much easier than the other way!
