Tip for corners
I'm making my sister some Happy Face pot holders for her kitchen. When I was pulling the corners out, I was thinking about all the little tips and tricks we pick up along the way. I thought I'd share some as I thought of them.
When sewing corners, I think we all know to leave the needle in the fabric, lift the pressor foot and pivot the fabric. Finishing those nice square corners is a little more difficult.
Clip the corners off diagonally, close to the stitching before you turn your work right side out. After you've poked that corner out as much as you can with your finger, use a straight pin or needle to pull it out the rest of the way. Be sure to get in the seam and not just under a thread of the fabric. Press those nice square corners out! Repeat as needed to square them up.
