Exclamation Sewing Projects - Check In!

We had a needle art and quilting check in, so here is the sewing one!

Yesterday I FINALLY finished a duvet cover that I started over 5 years ago!

Today I am working on curtains for our bedroom.

So what is everyone working on? Anyone doing either the apron or tote bag tutorials?

I am working on a skirt for me, 2 prs of pants for the girls, 1 pr of shorts, and 2 oven mitts. I have the same problem as you, Dee--attention span of a 2 yr old.

I don't really need an apron right now, so that's why I'm not doing that tutorial.

As soon as I buy some "sturdier" fabric, I'll be making the tote bag from the tutorial. It will be great for carrying library books back and forth.

Chelle, you are one busy gal!

I'm sure if I looked hard enough I could find many UFO's around here.

Next time you go to JoAnn's check out that special buy fabric they got in oh maybe 1 1/2 months ago. I found some great dark, floral corduroy for a tote, picked up a yard for $2.

How do you like your serger for sewing clothes?

Do adults have hyper activity disorder? I just completed the potholder for the swap at the garden. Other than that I haven't gotten anymore sewing done.

I do have plans though!! Yup, they are good plans.

I really need to make my mom another nightie. The one I made her I made in flannelette and she doesn't like flannelette. So I have to make her another one in cotton. I also want to make some shorts for the kids.

CJ, what kind of fabric are you using for your potholders? Is it quilted or are you lining cotton?

Chelle for my potholder, I'm using a log cabin block I had that was an extra block I ended up with when I made one of our older kids a quilt. I used a pretty piece of cotton on the back, that was material left over from another quilt.

For the batting I used warm & natural, doubled. I then quilted the top using the stitch in the ditch pattern. I used bias tape for the border, rather than making my own. I had some extra on hand.

I then put a little ribbon at the top for the pot holder hanging loop, and sewed a heart button on to the ribbon. I'm going to take a picture and post it after I get the film developed.

I thought you got a serger?

Okay, you just made me go and look through all the threads and I found it!

    Anyone own a serger?

No serger here, lol. But I did complete my very first sewing project. I made an apron and will be sending it to Lucie, who I had in the swap. It came out pretty good for a first try & Dee was so patient with all my questions, she was especially good at cheering me on!

LOL sorry you did all that searching. I was poking fun at myself because I still haven't used it.

I'm still working on the Siley Face potholders and oven mitt for sis. I forgot I needed yellow, it's in the washer.

CJ, it's AADD, Adult Attention Deficit Disorder, and yes, it's real. I believe that you never fully regain your cognitive function following pregnancy. Studies have been done that show pregnant women have functional memory loss.

When I get the potholders done, I'm going to try a 9 patch quilt block.

This explains a lot for me, and it makes me feel better too knowing that it's not just me

Okay, so what is my problem then?? I don't have kids, unless my cats count!

    Everyone is doing great!

Chelle, what don't you understand about your serger? Ask away, there are a few of us here with sergers that will help you. You can sew up those shorts and pants for the girls in NO time with it.
