I added the interfacing a bit wrong, but it worked out in the end. I had the interfacing inside (with the front and back laid out flat longwise and sewn at the shoulders) and sewed the neck first, but should have done the arm holes first because with doing the neck first it left it where I had to stitch the outside of the armholes. I just tucked under and sewed them, but the stitches are on the outside vs. the inside. I used a zigzag stitch though, so it looks ok with the neckline in zigzag too. (if that makes any sense the way I'm explaining it) The back has just a v stitch that is cut to give room for the head and a button at the neck. I also did the largest size of the pattern because I was afraid I'd make a mistake and didn't want to waste fabric. The dress is definitely longer than it should be and a tad big, but that's ok.
The pattern had different things you could add like pockets or appliques, but I chose not to do them.
My next jumper, I'll do buttons or snaps on the shoulders and will try a pocket or applique on the dress and I want some sort of ribbing on the neck and hemline.
It was a good starting project for me to just get used to my machine and learn too. I have zero experience to draw from.
I'd like to do some pillows next though.
I'm just happy to actually do something..anything with my machine. If you'd like to help support Frugal Living by Sara Noel, my syndicated column, e-mail, write, or call the managing editor at your local newspaper and ask them to publish it in print or online. Sara,
That is incredible. I am so impressed. You certainly did a great job and Allie is so adorable (looks like her mom).
