favourite sewing magazines?
We have a few magazine threads going here, but what about sewing?
There are some good magazines out there that are very inspiring.
My sil has bought me Threads for years as a combination b'day and Christmas gift and I buy her Vogue Knitting in return BUT
my real top favourite is the Burda World of Fashion magazine. There is an English language version of it, but it comes out of Germany and it has a TON of patterns in each issue, enough to make every featured outfit. They have little sewing articles in there and advice. Costs just over 8$ canadian and regular magazines are between 3 and 5 $ so it's pricey but such fun. One year my mil gave me a years subscription which I save and poke thru for fun and inspiration.
I like the look of Sew News and enjoy it at the library.
What to you like and why?
Where do you get it from? Library, a friend loans it, or you read it at an office or buy it once in a while or have a subscription.
What have you learnt the most from in it's articles?

I always remember one issue of Sew News that featured heirloom sewing. It had white on white machine embroidery, pin tucking and how to adapt a regular pattern for that. Always wished I'd bought that particular copy.
My favourite Threads article was one on fitting a swim suit but there have been many good inspiring bits in there.
The latest Burda WOF has an article on fitting for a large bust which looks useful and I plan to follow.
Oh and I didn't mean to limit this discussion to magazines only. There are good online sites which function like magazines devoted to sewing.

My favorite too is Threads for general sewing. Quilting magazines are another story!

During my decluttering of my desk area I found 6 issues of Sew News. Nope they didn't get tossed!

those are resources, not magazines!!! heheheheh
I don't toss Threads or Knitter's. They are too much useful info, more like a professional periodical.
And the Burda World of Fashion mags aren't so much a magazine as a bunch of patterns with photos and ideas for sewing.
Wanted to add, Sewing World.com is fun to go to, they have some interesting areas, including some dedicated to particular machines so if you have a Pfaff like I do and need a particular question answered, chances are another pfaff owner will come to the rescue.

I don't have any suggestions yet, but am interested in the replies. I have heard Burda is awesome. Threads must be really good too because old editions on ebay are getting good money. I think I'd enjoy Threads because it covers more than just sewing.
I'd be interested in more sewing book recommendations too.If you'd like to help support Frugal Living by Sara Noel, my syndicated column, e-mail, write, or call the managing editor at your local newspaper and ask them to publish it in print or online.
