What's everyone working on in their sewing rooms? or quilting rooms?
What's everybody having fun with right now in their sewing. Karen's got a cute idea making nighties out of old Tshirts, cutting them down for her dd.
I've got to finish some more fitted sheets. Homemade fits better and doesn't shrink off the bed, and actually stays tucked in my thicker mattress.
I bought some fabric for a good deal down in Vancouver. I plan to make a summer dress, princess line, sleeveless with a little matching jacket, in summer weight "linen" weave in a rusty apricot shade and a 2 peice dress in lavendar leaf printed chiffon and a fancy dress for winter using the princess line dress pattern and a matching jacket out of a chocolate brown chinese brocade.
Or maybe they'll sit in their unbroken fabric lengths of glory and decorate my sewing room shelves forever and ever!!!!
What's up in your sewing paradise?

Well I have 4 quilts to make and finish by Christmas. I have dgd's finished except for the border. The border is new to me, so I had to do it 3 times before it worked right. Course if I had read the instructions or there had been different instructions, I wouldn't have had to do it 3 times. If all else fails, read instructions I'm hearing Margery say.
Thats all for right now.

Yup, LOL CJ that is exactly how I feel. Directions are written in some foreign language, then translated none too efficiently by the way they seem to work in my life.
Maybe it's because people who sew or do quilting and crafts tend to be hands on visual people who need to see it to do it. I know I'm that way.

I have my flag quilt I am still working on. I have maybe 1/5 of the hand quilting done so far. Everytime i sit down to watch tv with dh I work on it and I leave it draped over the back of my chair.

You quilters have some lovely projects on the go.
I'm still trying to catch up on the inside and the garden but hopefully next week I can start cutting out.

I made skirts for the girls and me for the 4th of July. I'll post pics on Sunday when we're wearing them.
Next I hope to start making some Christmas gifts. I want to make an eyeglass case, a tote, and a wallhanging for my mom. For the kids, I am determined to make them Christmas jammies and quillows--maybe a couple of character pillowcases too.
For Dave I'd like to make a lap quilt and some lounge pants.
Guess I better get busy

fun!!!!

A person needs some small projects that are fast and easy to do for instant gratification (well not quite instant) whether it's knitting sewing crochet or other crafts.

Margery, I make my own fitted sheets too and I have to say that I need more because my kitty has been clawing at them (bad kitty) I guess that means I need to get her a new scratching post...and clip her claws!
I just finished two baby quilts and gave them away. So now I can concentrate on my Christmas list (which consists of projects made in the sewing room and in the kitchen).
For some Christmas gifts I want to make those eye and neck pillows. I want to design a pattern, but basically I will have a muslin sleeve filled with rice with lavendar oil or eucaliptus (sp) oil and then sew that shut. Then make a nice sleeve to go over it made out of think terry cloth. When you need something for a headache or any body pain you can put it in the microwave (I need to find out times for different sizes) or in the freezer (I would think these would feel great if you had a fever). I guess there are a lot of people out there that make them, but if anyone wants info, I can put up some links. I can't wait to make a few for myself as well!!! I went to one of those fancy spa parites and theirs was so luscious, but I didn't want to buy one for $30 when I could make my own for much cheaper!!
I was thinking of crocheting a poncho for my Niece's birthday in August. Even though she lives in GA, I know it will be something that she would like to wear in the Fall...it may not be exactily sewing, but it's something I want to make for her. She will be 4!!
I also need to make my fabirc gift bags for the homebaked breads, soup mixes and hot chocolate mix that I give out at Christmas. I always get my Christmas fabric on sale the year before. It's already washed, dried and put away...I can't remember what it looks like, so it's always a nice surprise when I'm ready to make them!
I need to make a few handbags, including a couple for myself.
In the Fall I concentrate on making Maple Pear Chutney, Apple Butter and Jams. I love making the house smell all cinnamon(ey) on a cool Fall Saturday. Mmmmmmmm....
I will also be quilting in between everything.
