    Smile Xpost: Fabric Co-ops

Here is a list of fabric co-op groups where you can buy fabric at discount prices. I don't belong to all of them, but I do belong to several. I know the first one will ship to Canada and overseas, but I'm not sure if all of them will.

CJ, momufactured is the co-op where I was able to get the Hoffman fabrics at a GREAT price.

These co-ops also sell notions like thread, scissors, elastic, etc.

Thanks Chelle, I'm going to check these out later. I ended up purchasing more material today, but I'm definitely going to see what these are like.

I meant to reply to this a while ago, and then the forums went down for a bit, and then I forgot. Sorry about that.

The runner of the co-op will post on the Yahoo group about how much a fabric or notion will be (usually bought wholesale from a supplier). Sometimes the person running the co-op will charge an extra fee for supplies, their time, etc, and this amount is always specified upfront.

For example, there is a Kwik Sew patterns co-op where the woman charges 10% of your order to pay for her time, shipping supplies, etc.

Typically the co-ops have databases set up (where you place your order), and you pay for your fabric, notions, etc when you order, and then the owner of the co-op will notify you with a shipping cost when she ships your order.

I have found co-ops to be a very inexpensive way to buy a ton of really nice fabric and notions.

PLMK if you have any other questions.
