    Default tea cosy pattern

Here is the tea cosy pattern for the airedale terrier that some of you asked for. I also drew one up for Kimmee, which is a black faced sheep and sunflowers.

The tea cosy is basically the same for both animals. It's a padded tea cosy cut separately to the animal that is sewn on. Use cotton fabric for the cosy and felt for the animal. It's really easy to sew felt and if you use small stitches it looks better than normal length stitches.

I won't tell you how to sew it as most of you ladies are better craftspeople than I am but I'll just comment on what I think will help you.

Cut out your cosy - you'll need three identical shapes for each side. The bottom layer (I used dark green canvas in case it got tea stains on it), a piece of wadding/padding (I cut one piece and halved it, using half of one piece for both sides) and the top fabric which is the fabric you'll see. I also cut a contrasting piece for the bottom. Cut the felt according to the pattern. You can see in the pic of the cosy I made the different colours I used. For the sheep, I'd use white for the body and tail, and dark grey or black for the face, legs and ears. I handstitched the nose and eyes. Sew the animal onto the cosy as you see it on the pattern. I put a little bit of stuffing in the head and hand stitched it - it stands up nicely if it's stuffed.

I wrote the measurement on the patterns (all in inches) but if you can't make them out they are:
    Airedale:
    Head 2 3/4"
Front of body to under tail 5 3/4"
Top of head to end of foot 8 "
top of tail to end of foot 8"
    Sheep:
    head 2 1/2" behind ear to foot 7 3/4"
rear end top of body to foot 6 "
    shoulder to foot 4 1/4"
    Sunflower:
    petal to petal 2 1/2"
    black centre 1 "
    Tea cosy:
    Top 9 " across
centre 7 " top to bottom

I hope all this makes sense. PM me if you need any more info.

Good luck ladies. Please post a pic if you make this.

Dee, I love opportunities to give. My version of the simple life emphasises developing a generous spirit. It gives me the best feeling when I can help and give to others.

Kim, I'm so pleased you're making this. Post a pic when you've finished so we can all see it.
