    Talking yikes

So I decided to try to make a cloth All in one Diaper. I found a pattern and instructions. I gathered all the supplies and sat down to create. I used the pattern sized "newborn". I sat for an hour happily sewing away...then I realised i had forgotten an elastic on a leg hole. So out comes the seam ripper, i put in my elastic, close it up and continue.

Time to put in the elastic that goes to the back of the diaper...where's the safety pin for guiding it through the elastic casing?? I look all over. Hannah's asleep in her bed, she doesn't have it, it isn't under the machine. Is it on the floor? Nope. Did I pin it to myself? Quick check..nope. where is the silly thing. Maybe if i pick up my work area i can find it. OK, useless scraps in the, basting pins put in the case, pencil and tracing supplies put neatly to the side. Thread bits tossed out, machine lifted and cleaned under, nope not there either. I pick up the instructions, not there either. Ok. lets put the project aside for a little bit and continue later...what;s this hard spot in the diaper? What...wait...is it what i think it is? Did I just do what I think I...OMGosh I did. I sewed the safety pin IN the diaper.

Out comes the seam ripper again. Retrieve the ripper and restitch the seams. Continue sewing the diaper and the fasteners, i finish. and fold the diaper to admire my work. Gee, this seems a bit large. But I used the newborn pattern didn't I? Yes, yes I did. Whew. Ok, then why will this thing fit my 2 yr old?

Alright I give up, wonder how much it costs to buy them at Amazon??

Sounds like an eventful afternoon Missy!

BTW I've done those kinds of things myself a time or 2.

Wait til you sew something to the pajamas you are wearing and you find out you are attached - way back there...... kind of where you started the stitch...
