Default How do I make tall skinny jeans out of regular ones?

Both the munchkins are tall and and slim. I know when Blake was a baby I had to take his jeans in so they wouldn't slide off his tiny little hiny, but I can't remember how I did it. Suggestions please?

I am just wondering if you could take them in the back, the sides seem hard with pockets. Denim is hard for me to sew, but with a little determination I bet you will get the job done. Good luck Karen.

I always used a strip of elastic on the back waist. (1" wide)

Thanks Kimmee. I was thinking about doing that on the ones that don't have elastic. Most of them already have elastic around the back. I wonder if I could pull it in some.

I would remove and replace it if it is stretched. another thing I did was make little side tabs and buttons so I could tighten them and let them out as needed. I had all skinny minis too - regular cuts don't work and slims just fit wrong!

    Karen,

Instead of cutting into the waist band and trying to pull the elastic up tighter, which will probably be a PITA as they are usually sewn through the elastic in several places.

Try this, it is called Stitch and Stretch Elastic, you can get it at any JoAnn's type sewing store. How it works is you stitch on the blue lines and then you put the garment on the child and pull up the elastic threads to fit them. Take it off them and sew down along the elastic threads to secure. Won't look pretty on the inside of the pants, but it will do the job.

Kimmee's idea of tabs is a good idea too, you could use velcro.

Karen, I have a simular problem with DS. He's thin but not so tall, and it is very hard to find pants that fit him properly. I like the ideas here. Thanks.

i'd use the stitch and stretch. I have used it once on a skirt for dd, and it worked like magic.

Oh Dee! I knew you'd come through! Stitch and stretch! What will they think of next! That'd work great on the ones without elastic, or elastic sewn in the back of the jeans. Then velcro tabs would be awesome on the others. They wear their shirts out, so it wouldn't have to be real pretty.

    Thank you!
