Question Are there sewing projects you want to learn/complete in 2005 or....

Sewing gadgets you'd like to purchase in 2005?

One of the projects I'd love to learn is how to make winter parkas. I know, quite a challenge but when ds#2 had a worker come into our home when he was just a toddler, she had made her own coat. It was stunning and since then I've always wanted to challenge myself to learn.

I'd also like to learn how to make jeans - probably something I won't tackle in 2005 but would like to learn.

As to gadgets, I'd love to have a serger.

    How about you?

I want to become more acquainted with my serger--learn how to use all its fun stuff.

I want to learn how to make fabric bowls & boxes.

I'm thinking seriously about dusting off my sewing machine and making some draperies for my living/dining room.
I'd like to have a serger but I'm not sure why

I'd like to finish the linen summer outfit I started about three years ago!!!

And learn to do more with my machine than just straight stitch. I guess finding the manual somewhere would help.

I am going to challenge myself to learn to use my serger. I wear t-shirts nearly everyday and would love to learn to make some. I don't have enough long sleeved t-shirts so that would be great if I could make some. I've also taken to wearing pajama bottoms and t-shirts to bed so I'd like to learn to make the bottoms on the serger too.

I want to make myself a "functional" apron.

I also want to learn to make purses and make some grocery bags.

I would really like a programmable embroidery machine - I think I could do some really neat things with it and maybe even make it pay for itself. I would also like an Industrial machine cuz the leather I am using to reupholster my Midget is really hard on my semi-industrial machine and I am afraid that its going to burn it up!

I'm with Kimmee, I would love a programable embroidery machine and a new sewing machine wouldn't hurt either.

I have the cheapest sewing machine. It was $99 new and it was all I could afford at the time and, at this time, I can't afford a new one. So I service the machine myself and it has lasted me for a little over two years. I have been sewing for over 17 years and have always used hand-me-down sewing machines that have been of poor quality. This year I would like to get a Bernina. Just a basic one. No fancy embroidery, just your basic stitches. Berninas, even used, are expensive, so I have been saving up.

I have been commissioned to make a baby quilt starting in Janurary, so I plan on using some of that money towards a new machine.

I am hand piecing a Jacob's Ladder quilt. I want to have the top ready to quilt by the end of 2005.

I have my grandmother's Singer treadle sewing machine and my mother's 1960's Singer (cast iron head) and both of them still work!!

I'd love to learn to make draperies but don't have time this year.
