My sewing for today
I found online that you can make your own baby wipes, and I looked around and found a few different sites that sold cloth wipes (washable) and I got to thinking tht it isn't that much different really than cloth diapers in that you can wash them and reuse them (pretty frugal) and I am going to give a shot at cloth diapering. So I made these today. Just wipes. I give up on cloth diapers, what a fiasco, I'll have to buy them somewhere.
Anyhow, here's the wipes. i made a whole dozen of them from one brand new terry cloth towel. they are 8x10 in size.~~ Missy ~~

Ouch! Oh, I had an idea! How about using thrift store or garage sale receiving blankets to make these!

LOL, I have to give some credit to Angelee. I ran the idea by her to see if it could be done. Without her encouragement I don't believe I would have given it a shot.

Super job! I really should have done the same. Store wipes are expensive!

They really are! I think for a pack of 300 refills we spend 8.00. We go through easily 3-4 packs of refills a month. (Because we use them before and after eating at fast food rests for the kids and our hands too, and so on as well as for diapering purposes). So this hopefully will cut down that cost a lot. And I have been on a search for cloth diapers and other alternatives. Hopefully we will see a dramatic reduction on our dipering and wipes costs. The cost for the wipes was minimal, as I had the towel in the cupboard. I don't remember why i bought it, but i never used it for the purpose i had. And the flannel i had in my stash. I had bought it on sale. As Karen mentioned you could probably use those flannel receiving blankets and such just as easily. ANd the other upside is that these can be washed and used again and again.
I read though about washing cloth diapers that you can't do it the same as you do regular laundry, so i wonder if this would have to be washed any different...
Angelee... do you have any suggestions??~~ Missy ~~

I have made tons of my own wipes. they are so much nicer than even the wash cloths!
I use cloth diapers, and wipes.
I can point you in some awesome cloth diapering sites. I sew and sell my fitted diapers.
