Default Help w/ sewing machine please

Ok-I am so angry I just can't see straight, so this maybe a slight vent

My dd's (who...we don't know-the famous "not me" did it ) snapped off the spool holder on my sewing machine...both of them...grrrr so any suggestions on how to make this usable again?? I just cannot believe I will have to buy a new machine because there is no where to put the thread

Please help me (I may just strangle my dd's too, so you may want to check on them later!!)

Could you look up the manufacturers' website and possibly order replacement parts Arlene? That would be my best suggestion......They may even have a 1-800 # to call that could assist you....

    That would be frustrating!

I don't think that the thread needs to be on the actual holder spool. You can make something for it to go on and set it beside or behind the machine and just thread as you normally would have from the spool holder.

I have seen this with one of those very large, serger size, spools of thread, pleaced in a small coffee can and then threaded through a regular machine in the normal fashion..

Hope you understand what I am traying to say????

You can put your thread in a jar and thread the machine as usual until you can get replacement parts.

Thank you thank you thank you!!! I will try and order the replacement part, but good to know I can still use it with a jar/can until then!!

Thank you so very very much...and yes my dd's are still alive!! I have calmed down considerably...

How 'bout a small piece of wood with a large finishing nail (nail with a small head) nailed into it and just duck taped to the top?
    Can't beat that duck tape...

If you still have the spools that were ripped off... depending on how much was removed... (ie top part, half of it, or down to the machine)... I'd recommend going to your local hardware store & purchasing some metal glue (like Epoxy).

Here's what my hardware store says about Epoxy:
-Epoxy For general repair or bonding of tile, metal, glass, hard plastics and non-porous materials.
-Begins to set within 5 minutes.
    -Extremely strong.
-Two parts (resin and catalyst) are combined to create a chemical reaction. This reaction quickly forms a bond.
-Use caution, epoxy is toxic and flammable.
-Resists almost anything, from water to solvents.

So, I'd try that... let it set for about 10 min & it'll be set - all depending on what kind you get.

It should fix it like new. I keep all kinds of glues around my house (gorilla glue is one of my personal woodglue faves - super strong!).
