    Question Is anyone sewing today?

I'm working on lots of little projects. I finished 3 pairs of shorts for the kids, some cloth napkins, and a tablecloth. Now I'm working on a denim purse for Kathryn. I hope to do S & S's of all of them later tonight or tomorrow.

So what are you working on?

I made myself a jean purse today. I use a pair of jean shorts that looks like a skirt in front. It turned out cute I think. I am sewing a pair of bellbottom jean with v.w. inserts. And I have to hem a pair of fake swade pants. Had to cut them down from a size 10 to a size 5 for my oldest dd . I had so many projects going at once. And I am sewing by hand at the moment. My machine had a break down lol

The only sewing I've been doing is working of another quilt top.

Its been so hot and humid here, I can't do much in my sewing room. Next time we purchase a home, my sewing room will be on the MAIN floor!!!!

I do need to hem 3 pairs of pants for a lady here in town and it needs to be done before next Tues.

I've been working on what I call the "futon project". Our mattress on our futon couch is totally out of shape and no matter what will keep sliding and sinking out of shape on the futon frame (it's nine years old). Plus it isn't comfortable anymore. So I am making 4 new boxed cushions for them. Two for the bottom and two for the backs. I will also make them large enough so that when company comes a full size fitted sheet will go around all four cushions nice and snug and people will be able to still sleep comfortably on the futon.

I am using jeans (indigo, stone washed, colored, etc.) from garage sales, the salvation army, our closet to cut out squares and piece them quilt style. Once I have the pieced fabric large enough I am cutting the pattern pieces out for the boxed cousins. I have made them before for floor pillows, so they aren't that hard. I will also be using the old futon mattress for the actual cushions part (stuffing), but I will need a bit of batting to smooth the cushions out inside the new cover. I think it will work great and DH and I have been talking about the best way to go about it. I currently have 10 pairs of jeans and a yard of denim fabric to work with so far.

I'm not sewing today, but I really do need to get started on two placemat purses for my sister and niece...their birthdays (mother and daughter) are on the same day, 8/21, and I haven't even started on them yet!!! I've also get one quilt top to finish, one quilt that needs binding, and one Christmas quilt that I've been working on off and on for *three years* that I need to finish quilting ( I find it very difficult to work on a Christmas quilt after Christmas...that's why it's taken me so long to finish!! I usually drag it out again around September or October and start working on it again!! Hopefully, I'll finish it this year!! ). But what I *really* need to do is clean up and organize my sewing room!! UGH!! Oh well, I'll eventually get it all done!!
