Default The best material for napkins?

Since I have instructions (thanks again Sam ) for my sewing machine, my mom is going to help me attempt my first project. I've chosen something relatively simple...cloth napkins.

What is the best material? I don't want anything stretchy, something more like tablecloth material I guess. Any suggestions would be wonderful

I like cotton also, nice and soft and as they age, they get softer.

Yep 100% cotton does all what the ladies say AND absorbs as opposed to anything with polyester in it. A poly blend is also hard to get stains out of. HTH

I also vote for 100% cotton.

And you can find so many fun prints -- my kids have (100% cotton) napkins with teddy bears and bugs and bunnies and seashore themes.

100% cotton, or a cotton linen blend of any percentage.

Linen is wonderful if you can find it. IKEA has some really nice linen cotton blends sometimes.

Stay away from polyester, nylon etc as the man made stuff has a death grip on oily stains, and is really non absorbant.
