Synthetics in fabric may cost more too
Microfibre, polyester, polar fleece, synthetic suedes, acrylics, and nylon are all based on petrochemicals, so if you sew, and you see a good sale, and you need it, stocking some up ahead might be a good plan rather than waiting till spring.
Clothing (not home sewn, but bought stuff) based on this will also probably jump. We've been used to synthetics being a good cheap sturdy (if not comfy) alternative to more expensive natural fibres.
I was thinking thru some of the implications of CJ's thought provoking thread on how rising oil prices are going to affect consumer goods. If you plan on purchasing anything for your home made of plastic....
